During a hearing of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, Rep. Sue Myrick, Vice Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, questioned Steven B.
Larsen of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services about his oversight of a $5 billion taxpayer-funded retiree program and a federal high-risk health insurance pool,
established in the recent healthcare law.

Rep. Myrick's first question focused on the fact that companies, some yielding as much as $20 billion in profits last year, have received taxpayer-funded giveaways
from the Obama administration to fund their early retiree benefits programs. Mr. Larsen fails to explain why these
companies can't cover these costs with their own profits.

Rep. Myrick's second question focused on the potential inefficiencies of a federal high-risk health insurance pool program, layered on top of existing state pools.
