Hi, I'm Vicmar Toro and I'm a CVS pharmacist.
There are many different medical insurance plans available, but it's important to pick the one that's just right for you. Think about what kind of services you really want, and then find a plan that fits your needs. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality recommends that you take the following things into account:
First, compare costs - make sure the cost of a health plan meets your budget. Then comparison-shop for the benefits you need; for example, some plans offer partial payments for fertility treatments. Also, be sure to find out whether the plan includes your preferred doctors and hospital. Be aware of the cost of a serious accident or chronic illness, because some plans offer a lot of flexibility but others pay only 80 percent of hospital bills. Check whether your plan requires you to notify your doctor or insurance company within 48 hours of an accident. Failing to notify your doctor may cause problems with your coverage. Be sure to check for high ratings from current customers; that is usually a good sign. Look for a commitment to helping people get better and stay well. Plans with this focus may have smoking cessation, childhood immunization, and even health club discount benefits. Finally, make sure your plan is accredited by the National Committee for Quality Assurance.
