People can insure their sons so they get a monthly allowance when they become eligible for military service and you can even insure the wife's hoard of gold bangles.

The insurance business is serious business. The risks are high. The more variety a company offers, the higher the risks.

In any given year claimants can suddenly spike, exceeding the predicted number, and of course government decisions definitely have an effect on an insurance company's ability to serve its clients. It's a scary business but someone's got to do it.
