MedStar Health's Harbor Hospital, in southwest Baltimore, Maryland, recently launched a program designed to improve the health and well-being of more than 1400 students, family members and school staff. The Cherry Hill Healthy Schools Healthy Families program uniquely includes putting a hospital employed nurse to serve as a "health resource officer" in four area elementary-middle schools.

The hospital's president, Dennis Pullin, drove the initiative as a means for children to have increased access to health care. Reinforcing hospital ties with the community was a goal he established in 2009 when he first assumed the presidency.
